Today marked a special visit to the Bridge House Care Home as Eric, the friendly Alpaca, came to visit our residents. Many of our residents have spent their lives in rural areas and have a fondness for animals, so Eric’s visit brought great joy to everyone.
Eric is a well-trained alpaca who is friendly, calm and well-behaved. He visited the residents and interacted with them, offering them the chance to pet him and take some memorable photographs. The residents thoroughly enjoyed his presence, as it gave them an opportunity to interact with a loving and gentle animal.
In addition to bringing smiles to the faces of our residents, Eric’s visit also has therapeutic benefits. Studies have revealed that animal-assisted therapy has the power to reduce stress, improve mood and lower blood pressure. Moreover, animal visits may provide a therapeutic effect for individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
Overall, Eric’s visit was a big success. It is always a rewarding experience to see our residents happy and engaged in social events that bring them pleasure and positive feelings. We hope to make more visits like this one, both with Eric and other animals, so that our residents can benefit from the wonderful effects of animal-assisted therapy.
