Our 6 core values

The comfort and wellbeing of Brecon Care’s residents is our highest priority

Independence

We promote independence.

We encourage our residents to think and act without reference to another person. We do this by tactfully providing human, or technological, assistance when it is needed. With over 30 years of experience in the care sector we have found that this maximises an individual’s ability to self-care and promotes independent interaction with others.

Supporting people to take informed, reasonable, and fully thought-out risks. Encouraging residents to contribute to their plan of care and reviews.

Independence

We continue to build on an environment that is structured to offer safety and security.

Protecting people from all forms of abuse.

Providing accessible and non-judgmental procedures to deal with complaints and concerns.

Creating an atmosphere that is open, positive, and inclusive.

Choice

Our residents are encouraged to exercise their right to choose. In all aspects we endeavour to offer choice and variety.

At mealtimes, our menu offers choice, and individual preferences are acknowledged. Where, when, and with whom they wish to eat and drink is not assumed or taken for granted.

Residents can manage their own time and are not dictated to by strict routines. We respect and support individual behaviours and lifestyles by offering flexibility.

Fulfilment

We support our residents to realise personal aspirations and abilities.

Focusing on person-centered care, learning from individual histories and respecting wishes are key.

Offering support to our residents personal, intellectual, and spiritual values.

Respecting their individual and diverse needs.

Providing care and treatment that reflects their needs but also their values.

Helping residents to maintain existing contacts and meaningful relationships.

Dignity

At Brecon Care we understand that illness and disability can undermine dignity. We endeavour to respect and preserve each resident’s intrinsic value in the following ways.

We understand that our residents are individuals and deserve to be treated with person-centered care, specific to their wants and needs.

Each resident will receive the same level of care and attention while also having their differences celebrated, regardless of age, sex, religion, sexual orientation, racial origin, and any disability that they may have.

Choice

We support and encourage our residents' rights to maintain their place in society.

Ensuring people maintain their right to vote.

Providing people with full and equal access to all elements of the National Health Service.

Assist residents to access public services, such as libraries.

Assisting residents to access, and contribute to, life and society beyond the home.
